Jhansi Man Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Brother Over Property Dispute, Burying Body in House

In a shocking case of familial violence, a 36-year-old man was arrested in Jhansi for allegedly hacking his elder brother to death over a property dispute and burying the body inside their house in the Biharipura area. The incident, which came to light late Thursday, has sent ripples through the local community, highlighting the tragic consequences of domestic conflicts.

Victim Reported Missing, Investigation Uncovers Grim Truth

The victim, identified as Tariq Beg, 38, was a management graduate working in a private firm. He had been living with his brother, Masariq, in their newly constructed house under the jurisdiction of the Premnagar police station. Tariq went missing on February 10, prompting initial concerns from his family.

Five days after his disappearance, Masariq approached the police to report his brother missing. However, the investigation took a dark turn when it was revealed that Tariq's phone was last used inside their shared residence, raising suspicions about the circumstances of his vanishing.

Maternal Uncle's Suspicion Leads to Breakthrough

On Thursday, Tariq's maternal uncle, Mohd Salim, contacted the police, expressing doubts about Masariq's involvement in the case. Acting on this tip, authorities took Masariq into custody for questioning. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, admitting to the brutal murder of his brother.

Masariq then led the police to his house, where he pointed out the exact spot in the backyard where he had buried Tariq's body. The grim discovery was made under the supervision of law enforcement officials, who swiftly moved to exhume the remains.

Body Exhumed, Forensic Examination Underway

The body was exhumed in the presence of a magistrate and a forensic team, ensuring proper legal and scientific protocols were followed. It was subsequently sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and gather further evidence for the ongoing investigation.

Police suspect that the motive behind the murder was a property dispute, with Masariq allegedly wanting sole ownership of the house. According to reports, his wife was away at the time of the incident, which may have provided an opportunity for the crime to occur without immediate witnesses.

Legal Action Taken Against the Accused

A case has been registered against Masariq under BNS Section 103(1) for murder and Section 238(1) for the disappearance of evidence. SSP BBGTS Murthy confirmed the charges, emphasizing the seriousness of the offense and the commitment to ensuring justice is served.

This tragic event underscores the devastating impact of property disputes within families, often leading to irreversible consequences. The local authorities are continuing their investigation to piece together the full timeline of events and ensure that all legal procedures are meticulously followed.
