Daltonganj Jeweller Gets Rs 1 Crore Extortion Call from Gangster Prince Khan
Jeweller in Daltonganj gets Rs 1 crore extortion call

A prominent jeweller in Daltonganj has filed a formal police complaint after allegedly receiving a chilling extortion demand for a staggering Rs 1 crore. The threat, as per the First Information Report (FIR), was issued in the name of notorious gangster Prince Khan.

The Chilling WhatsApp Voicemail

The incident came to light on Monday when the jeweller, whose identity has been withheld for security reasons, approached the Town police station. According to Officer in-charge Jyoti Lal Rajwar, the shop owner, who operates a business in a busy commercial area, received a disturbing voicemail on his WhatsApp on Sunday.

The audio message, recorded in a male voice, directly introduced the sender as Prince Khan and explicitly demanded the massive extortion amount. Preliminary police investigations suggest that the voicemail seems to have originated from outside India, adding a layer of complexity to the case.

Police Launch Investigation Under Stringent Laws

Taking the threat seriously, the Daltonganj police have initiated a full-fledged investigation. A case has been registered under sections related to organised crime and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) pertaining to extortion.

"We have registered a case under relevant sections for organised crime and the BNS for extortion. Sub-inspector Niraj Kumar has been appointed as the investigating officer to lead the probe," stated OC Jyoti Lal Rajwar, confirming the official action.

Implications and Community Concern

This brazen extortion attempt targeting a local businessman has sent ripples of concern through the trading community in Daltonganj. The use of digital platforms like WhatsApp for such criminal demands highlights evolving challenges in law enforcement.

The invocation of organised crime and BNS sections indicates the seriousness with which authorities are treating the complaint. The police are now delving into the digital trail of the communication and investigating the alleged involvement of the named gangster, Prince Khan, whose activities have been a concern in the region.

The case underscores the ongoing efforts by criminals to intimidate business owners and the subsequent response by police to apply stringent new legal frameworks to combat such threats.
