Tragedy Strikes Family Returning from Temple Visit

A joyous family pilgrimage turned into a nightmare on Thursday evening when an SUV carrying nine members overturned on the Balotra highway near Mawdi village in Jaisalmer district. The accident resulted in the tragic death of an 18-year-old woman and left seven others injured, three of whom are in critical condition.

Details of the Fatal Mishap

The victims, all residents of Keswana village in the Jalore district, were returning from a visit to the Jasol Mata temple in Balotra. According to preliminary information, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over near Mawdi village.

Alert villagers immediately informed the 108 ambulance service, which rushed to the spot. All the injured were transported to the government Nahta Hospital in Balotra for emergency treatment. Despite medical efforts, doctors declared Neetu (18), daughter of Suraj Kumar Darji, dead during treatment.

Injured Victims and Police Investigation

The list of seriously injured includes several close family members. They have been identified as:

  • Tarun (10) and Hitesh Kumar (17), sons of Suraj Kumar Darji.
  • Kamla Devi (50), wife of Kantilal.
  • Purushottam (27), son of Rameshwar Lal Vaishnav.
  • Mamta (21), daughter of Kantilal Darji.

All are residents of Keswana. Medical authorities confirmed that three of the injured remain in a critical state, fighting for their lives in the hospital.

Officials from the Siwana police station reached the accident site promptly. They conducted a thorough inspection of the spot and have initiated a formal investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. The body of the deceased, Neetu, has been kept in the mortuary at the government Nahta Hospital in Balotra. It will be handed over to the grieving family after the completion of necessary post-mortem formalities.

This heartbreaking incident has cast a shadow over the Keswana village community and serves as a grim reminder of the perils on the road, especially during long journeys.
