Major Drug Bust in Jaisalmer: Police Seize Contraband Worth Rs 50 Lakh
Sangad police in Jaisalmer district conducted a significant raid on Wednesday, resulting in the seizure of a large quantity of narcotics and the arrest of a key suspect. The operation targeted a house where authorities confiscated 310 grams of smack, 140 grams of MDMA, and 3.26 kilograms of doda, with an estimated street value of Rs 50 lakh. In addition to the drugs, police recovered Rs 2.7 lakh in cash from the premises.
Accused Identified as Sadram with Family Links to Drug Trade
The arrested individual has been identified as Sadram, aged 42, a resident of Virmaniyon Ki Dhani in the Chenpura area of Jodhpur district. According to police reports, Sadram was allegedly operating a drug business while working as a labourer near Koda village. This arrest is part of a broader crackdown on drug trafficking in the region.
Superintendent of Police Abhishek Shivhare stated that all station house officers and the district special team (DST) in-charge, Bhimrao Singh, had been directed to intensify actions against drug traffickers. Following these instructions, the DST gathered intelligence and coordinated with Sangad police station to execute the raid.
Police Raid Uncovers Drug Network with Family Connections
Acting on the intelligence, SHO Rajesh Kumar Nipu and his team conducted a night raid on Sadram's house. The seized drugs were reportedly intended for sale in Jaisalmer town, highlighting the local impact of this operation. Police investigations reveal that Sadram's family has a history of involvement in drug-related activities.
His elder son, Suresh Bishnoi, was previously arrested in 2025 with 92 grams of MDMA, while his younger son, Kamlesh Bishnoi, was arrested in connection with an MDMA factory in Barmer. These connections suggest a deeper, family-run drug network that authorities are now probing.
Ongoing Investigation Under NDPS Act
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway. Police are focusing on identifying additional links within the drug network to dismantle it completely. This bust underscores the ongoing efforts by Jaisalmer police to combat drug trafficking in the district.
The successful operation reflects the effectiveness of coordinated police work and intelligence gathering in tackling narcotics trade in Rajasthan.
