Jaipur Police Officers Suspended for Framing YouTuber, Extorting Money
In a shocking incident from Jaipur, four police personnel, including the Station House Officer (SHO) of Bhabru police station in Kotputli-Behror district, have been suspended following allegations of framing a complainant by planting a weapon and extorting money. The action was taken on Wednesday after a preliminary inquiry revealed serious misconduct.
Details of the Alleged Extortion and Framing
According to officials, the incident occurred on March 23 when the victim, a YouTuber, and his friends were travelling to Kotputli. They were intercepted near Bhabru by a police team. The policemen allegedly seized their mobile phones and claimed to have recovered a pistol from the vehicle, which they had planted themselves.
The group was then taken into custody and pressured to arrange money for their release. The victim was allegedly threatened with implication under the Arms Act if he did not comply. He later paid Rs 1 lakh to secure his freedom, after which he was released.
Investigation and Suspensions
The matter came to light when the victim grew suspicious and approached senior police officers with a formal complaint, supported by evidence. Jaipur Range IG Rahul Prakash confirmed that action was taken against SHO Ramkishor, an assistant sub-inspector, and two constables based on the complaint.
Following the preliminary inquiry, ASI Ramratan and constables Subhash and Lakshman were suspended. SHO Ramkishor was also placed under suspension after his role came under suspicion. IG Prakash has ordered a detailed probe into the incident, which has been assigned to an additional Superintendent of Police.
Further investigation is currently underway, with officials emphasizing that such misconduct will not be tolerated. This case highlights concerns over police accountability and the need for stringent measures to prevent abuse of power.
