Jaipur Police Apprehend 35 Notorious History-Sheeters in Major Digital Operation

In a significant crackdown on organized crime, the Jaipur City Police announced on Thursday the successful arrest of 35 history-sheeters during an intensive month-long campaign conducted throughout February. The operation, which ran from February 6 to February 28, specifically targeted absconding criminals who were allegedly involved in various illicit activities while using other offenders as cover to evade law enforcement.

Coordinated Digital Campaign Leverages Advanced Technology

Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajarshi Raj Varma revealed that investigators suspected many of these history-sheeters were operating discreetly from behind the scenes to avoid detection. To counter this sophisticated evasion, police launched a meticulously coordinated operation that focused on identifying such suspects through integrated digital databases combined with rigorous field verification procedures.

The campaign's success hinged on three powerful technological tools: the National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID), the Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS), and the Rajasthan Police's proprietary RajCop mobile application. This technological triad provided officers with unprecedented access to comprehensive criminal intelligence across multiple jurisdictions.

RajCop App: Mobile Access to Criminal Records

Varma explained that the RajCop application is directly linked to backend systems utilized by the Rajasthan Police, enabling officers to access criminal records and wanted lists directly from their mobile devices during routine operations. When police officers verify a person's identity details through the app—including photographs and names—the system automatically cross-references this information against databases of wanted criminals.

"This digital access allows our personnel to identify wanted suspects immediately during checks without waiting for manual verification from different police stations," emphasized DCP Varma. "Once the system identifies a match, officers receive comprehensive details including pending cases, active warrants, and the specific police station where cases are registered."

ICJS: Cross-State Criminal Intelligence

While RajCop serves state police needs, the Interoperable Criminal Justice System proved equally invaluable during the operation. ICJS maintains centralized records of First Information Reports (FIRs), charge sheets, and criminal histories across multiple states, creating a nationwide network of criminal intelligence.

"If a suspect has an FIR, warrant, or criminal record in another district or state, the ICJS database flags this information instantly," Varma noted. Officers can scan vehicle registration numbers or input personal details during routine checks, nakabandi operations, or regular patrols, with the system immediately indicating whether individuals are connected to any criminal cases anywhere in the country.

NATGRID: Real-Time Intelligence Platform

The operation also leveraged the Ministry of Home Affairs' National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID), which serves as a comprehensive database aggregating information from multiple sources. "NATGRID provides access to real-time intelligence on suspects through a single unified platform," Varma explained, highlighting how this resource contributed significantly to tracking down elusive criminals who had managed to avoid previous detection efforts.

The successful campaign demonstrates how law enforcement agencies are increasingly utilizing integrated digital solutions to combat organized crime more effectively. By combining mobile technology with nationwide databases and real-time intelligence platforms, police can now identify and apprehend wanted criminals with unprecedented speed and accuracy, closing traditional gaps that previously allowed offenders to operate across jurisdictional boundaries.
