Jaipur Man Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Wife, Attempting to Mislead Police

In a shocking incident from the Bagru area of Jaipur, police have arrested a 27-year-old man on charges of murdering his wife and subsequently trying to deceive investigators by feigning ignorance about the crime. The arrest was made on Sunday evening following a detailed investigation into the domestic dispute that turned fatal.

Details of the Tragic Incident

The accused, identified as Ravindra Mukhiya, allegedly strangled his 26-year-old wife, Sushila Devi, at their rented residence in Krishna Vihar Colony within the Bagru RIICO area. According to police reports, the couple had a history of frequent quarrels, largely attributed to Ravindra's addiction to alcohol.

Sequence of Events Leading to the Crime

The tragic events unfolded over the weekend. On Friday, a dispute between the couple escalated, prompting Sushila to leave their home with their children and seek refuge at her sister's nearby house. Family members intervened, counselling the couple, and on Saturday, Ravindra brought Sushila back to their residence after reconciliation efforts.

However, tensions resurfaced later that day. When Sushila's sister attempted to contact her on Saturday evening and received no response, she grew concerned and visited the couple's house to check on her sibling. "She discovered Sushila lying dead on the floor with visible head injuries and a scarf tightly tied around her neck," a police officer stated. The sister immediately raised an alarm and notified the authorities.

Accused's Attempt to Mislead Investigation

Upon being informed, Ravindra arrived at the scene in an intoxicated state. Police noted that his behavior raised suspicions from the outset. "He pretended to be shocked and began hitting his head against the wall while crying near the body, even injuring himself and causing nosebleeds in a calculated attempt to mislead us," the officer explained. This dramatic display was initially perceived as grief but later revealed to be a ploy to divert attention from his involvement.

After detaining Ravindra and questioning him once he sobered up, police extracted a confession. "He admitted that during the argument, he assaulted his wife, resulting in head injuries, and subsequently strangled her," the officer added. Based on this confession and evidence gathered, Ravindra was formally arrested on Sunday evening and charged with murder.
