In a significant breakthrough, the Delhi Police have dismantled an inter-state drug syndicate, arresting three alleged traffickers involved in the illegal drug trade. The operation, conducted by the Special Cell, led to the seizure of approximately 5 kilograms of heroin, valued at around Rs 25 crore in the international market, along with Rs 5 lakh in cash.
Details of the Operation
The arrests were made following a tip-off about a major drug shipment entering the national capital. The police laid a trap and apprehended the suspects near the Anand Vihar bus terminal. The accused have been identified as residents of different states, indicating the syndicate's widespread network.
Seizures and Modus Operandi
During the raid, the police recovered the heroin concealed in specially designed compartments of a vehicle. The traffickers were using sophisticated methods to transport the contraband from one state to another, exploiting porous borders and weak surveillance. The cash seized is believed to be part of the proceeds from previous drug sales.
Ongoing Investigation
The police are now investigating the syndicate's links to other drug cartels and their supply chain. Preliminary inquiries suggest that the drugs were sourced from a neighboring country and were destined for various cities in North India. The arrested individuals are being interrogated to uncover more members of the network.
Impact on Drug Trafficking
This operation is a major setback for drug traffickers operating in the region. The Delhi Police have been intensifying their efforts to curb the drug menace, and this success is expected to deter other syndicates. The public has been urged to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking.
