Indore Couple Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide Linked to Financial Stress

A tragic incident of suspected murder followed by suicide has shaken the Pardeshipura locality of Indore, with a husband and wife found dead inside their rented home on Tuesday morning. The couple's teenage sons, who had stepped out briefly, returned to discover their parents deceased, prompting a police investigation that points to severe financial strain as a possible motive.

Discovery by Teenage Sons

The grim scene unfolded when Eknath Wagh, 43, asked his sons Mohit, 17, and Mayank, 13, to purchase milk from a nearby shop around 8 am. Upon returning approximately 20 minutes later, the boys made the harrowing discovery: their father was found hanging, while their mother, Rohini Wagh, 38, lay dead in another room of the house.

Police Investigation and Findings

Additional DCP Amrendra Singh stated that initial evidence suggests Eknath may have killed his wife before taking his own life. No suicide note was recovered from the premises, leaving investigators to piece together the circumstances through interviews and forensic analysis.

Key findings from the police include:

  • Broken bangles were observed near Rohini's body, indicating a possible physical altercation prior to her death.
  • A cloth was found stuffed into Eknath's mouth, which investigators believe he may have used to muffle sounds during the incident.
  • The house owner resides on the ground floor, but no reports of suspicious outsider activity were noted overnight.

Senior police officials and a forensic team conducted a thorough inspection of the residence after the matter was reported. Police are currently questioning neighbors and family members to gather more insights into the events leading up to the tragedy.

Background of Financial Strain

Relatives and family members revealed that the Wagh family had been grappling with significant financial difficulties for some time. Eknath, who previously worked as an auto mechanic, had recently transitioned to trading in the stock market. Despite selling two properties—one in Jeevan Ki Phel for Rs 9 lakh and another in the MR-10 area for Rs 6 lakh—he continued to struggle with mounting debt.

His elder brother, Santosh, informed the police that Eknath was under considerable pressure due to loans. The family had been living in a rented room in the Pardeshipura area for about one and a half years. Eknath's two brothers live separately, and his father resides in Ram Nagar.

Family Atmosphere and Last Moments

Interestingly, the children reported to police that the family atmosphere seemed normal on the night before the incident, with no noticeable arguments between their parents. This adds a layer of complexity to the case, as it contrasts with the violent outcome discovered the following morning.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to confirm the exact sequence of events and motives behind this devastating occurrence in Indore.
