Hyderabad Woman Accuses Husband of Forced Conversion and Sexual Assault

A woman in Hyderabad has come forward with shocking allegations against her husband, Nawaz, also known as Navadurga, and his family members. She claims they forcibly converted her to Islam, sexually assaulted her, and subjected her to extensive blackmail and financial exploitation. The victim detailed her harrowing ordeal in an interview with ANI, describing a pattern of deception, physical abuse, and emotional manipulation that began in May 2021.

Deception and Initial Encounter

The woman stated that she first met Nawaz in May 2021 when he responded to her advertisement on NoBroker to rent a shop. She alleged that he misrepresented himself by claiming he had converted to Hinduism and adopted the name Navadurga to gain her trust. "He told me that he had converted to Hinduism and his name was changed to Navadurga. Everybody from their family who was present at that time, everyone agreed on it," she said. After paying the rent and deposit, their relationship developed, leading to marriage on July 28, 2021.

Alleged Sexual Assault and Blackmail

The victim alleged that on May 24, 2021, Nawaz took her to a resort under the pretext of meeting his family. She claimed she was drugged through food or drink, lost consciousness, and was sexually assaulted while unconscious. Upon waking, she confronted Nawaz, who admitted to the act and showed her compromising photos he had taken. "He used them to blackmail me, saying, 'You must marry me and no one else; that is why I did this. Once we are married, I will delete the photos,'" she recounted. This blackmail allegedly coerced her into the marriage.

Forced Conversion and Ongoing Abuse

After the marriage, the woman claimed she was forcibly converted to Islam in August 2021, renamed Nazeera, and coerced into eating beef despite being a vegetarian. She described ongoing physical and emotional torture, including being hit, having her clothes torn in front of others, and being drugged. She specifically alleged that she was forced to undergo an abortion in August 2021 after becoming pregnant. "They gave me medicine to abort the pregnancy. They used to hit me a lot. They didn't let me do any pooja at home," she said.

Financial Exploitation and Threats

The victim estimated her total losses at Rs 25–30 lakh, along with significant amounts of gold. She alleged that between June and July 2021, the accused and his family defrauded her of around Rs 16.7 lakh, took loans in her name, used her credit cards, and sold her land in Shamshabad without her consent. She also reported threats of violence against her family. "They blackmailed me, showing the video saying that if I say anything outside, they'll put this on social media. They even threatened to kill or kidnap my sister," she added.

Accused Individuals and Police Inaction

The woman has accused her husband Nawaz and several family members—including Munawar, Shahrukh, Sohail, Sameer, Ismail, Reshma, and Nasima—of involvement in the alleged crimes. She claimed that despite filing a complaint on January 16, the police registered it as a "missing person" case instead of addressing fraud or sexual assault. "The person who raped me came to the police station and talked nicely to the SI and CI. No action is being taken," she alleged, suggesting the accused wield influence over local officials.

The case highlights serious allegations of gender-based violence, religious coercion, and financial fraud in Hyderabad, raising questions about police responsiveness and victim protection in such complex situations.
