Hyderabad Man Arrested for Allegedly Injecting HIV-Infected Blood into Relative After Marriage Rejection
In a shocking incident in Hyderabad, a 24-year-old transport supervisor employed with an IT company has been arrested for allegedly injecting his own HIV-infected blood into a 24-year-old female relative. The arrest follows the woman's refusal to marry him due to his medical condition, with police booking him for attempted murder.
Details of the Disturbing Incident
The incident occurred around 5 pm on March 11 at the woman's flat located in the Pocharam IT corridor area. According to police reports, the man, who is related to the victim, entered her residence while she was alone at home. As she approached him, he suddenly pulled out a syringe from his pocket and jabbed it into her forearm without any provocation.
Inspector B Raju stated, "After emptying the contents of the syringe into her, the accused informed that she was injected with his HIV-infected blood and left the place." The woman did not immediately inform her family about the traumatic event.
Medical Examination and Police Complaint
The next day, the woman fell ill and developed a high fever, prompting her family members to take her to a doctor on the morning of March 13. During the medical examination, the doctor noticed a dark clot mark on her forearm and questioned her about it. In the presence of her family, the woman revealed that her relative had forcibly injected her with HIV-positive blood.
The family then approached the police on Friday and lodged a formal complaint. Police have sent the woman to Gandhi Hospital for a comprehensive medical examination. Doctors indicated that it could take up to three months for the infection to show in blood tests, highlighting the severity of the situation.
Background and Motive Behind the Crime
Medipally ACP B Mohan Kumar provided insights into the accused's background and motive. The man's father, an autorickshaw driver, died of AIDS approximately 19 years ago, while his mother is also HIV-positive. Police confirmed that the accused had contracted the virus at birth.
Officials revealed that both families had initially supported a marriage between the two, planned for September 2025. However, before finalising the alliance, the woman's family requested the man to undergo a blood test due to his parents' medical history. When he tested positive for HIV, the wedding plans were cancelled, and the woman began avoiding him.
ACP Kumar explained, "The accused repeatedly tried to persuade the woman to marry him. Finally, he decided that if she also gets infected, then her family would not object to their wedding and decided to inject her with his blood." This calculated decision underscores the premeditated nature of the crime.
