Senior officials from the Roads and Buildings Department, along with representatives from the Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited, carried out separate assessments at the site. As debris clearance operations continued, smoke was still visible emanating from the damaged structure, highlighting the severity of the incident.
Preliminary Findings Point to Electrical Fault
Abids Assistant Commissioner of Police P Praveen Kumar provided initial insights into the investigation. According to his statement, power department officials conducted a preliminary examination and suggested that the fire likely originated from an electrical short-circuit. "Power department officials indicated that, prima facie, the fire appeared to have started due to a short-circuit. Several burnt wires were discovered in the cellar area," Kumar explained. He further noted that CCTV footage from the premises had been reviewed, and authorities are awaiting the final technical report to confirm these findings.
Structural Safety Assessment
The Roads and Buildings Department team focused on examining whether the intense fire had compromised the building's structural stability. Hyderabad District Fire Officer T Venkanna shared that the initial assessment indicated the structure was largely safe. "Only certain portions of the upper sections sustained damage. However, a comprehensive understanding will emerge once the final report is submitted," Venkanna stated. He also mentioned that while some fire safety equipment, such as pumps and extinguishers, were present on-site, it remains unclear whether they were functional during the emergency.
