Hyderabad: Speech-Impaired Woman with Disabilities Raped by Neighbour, Swift Police Action Leads to Arrest
In a deeply disturbing incident in Hyderabad, a 28-year-old woman who is speech-impaired and has learning difficulties was allegedly raped by her neighbour at her home on Saturday. The Attapur police have demonstrated commendable efficiency by arresting the accused, a 35-year-old daily-wage labourer, within 48 hours of the assault, based on a complaint filed by the survivor's family.

The incident unfolded on Saturday morning when the survivor was left alone at home. Her father and elder brother had gone out for work, and her sister-in-law had left for a local bank. Seizing this opportunity, the accused, who is also a relative of the survivor, entered the house.
He gagged the woman and proceeded to violate her. Around 11:10 am, the sister-in-law returned home to find the survivor naked, with the accused present at the scene. The accused hurriedly put on his clothes and attempted to flee.
The sister-in-law immediately raised an alarm and tried to intercept him, but according to police reports, the accused managed to escape from the spot initially.

The survivor, who is speech-impaired with a physical disability, described the assault to her sister-in-law through signs and gestures, stated Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Rajendranagar, S Sreenivas.
