Husband Arrested for Murder of Bank Employee in Jhajjar Within 18 Hours

In a swift police operation, the murder of a 27-year-old bank employee, found with her throat slit near Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar district, was solved within 18 hours. Authorities have arrested her husband, a chartered accountant from Hisar, as the prime accused in the case.

Details of the Crime and Investigation

Investigators revealed that the accused, Anshul Dhawan, killed his wife, Mahak, over repeated suspicions about her character. He then attempted to stage the scene as a robbery-cum-murder to mislead authorities. Mahak worked with HDFC Bank in Gurgaon and was married to Anshul in an arranged ceremony on September 25, 2025. The couple had been married for barely five months at the time of the incident.

On Valentine's Day, February 14, the couple visited Hisar and stayed with family. The next evening, around 7 pm on February 15, they left Mahak's parental home in Hansi for Gurugram. Approximately four hours later, Anshul contacted the police, claiming that unidentified attackers had intercepted their car near Pahsaur village in the Badli area of Jhajjar district. He alleged that these attackers killed his wife and fled the scene.

Police Findings and Confession

Police discovered Mahak's body lying outside the car on a dirt track about 100 meters off the Jhajjar-Badli road, with her throat slit. However, Anshul's account quickly unraveled during questioning. He failed to provide consistent descriptions of the alleged attackers and repeatedly changed his statement.

During sustained interrogation and a crime scene reconstruction, Anshul confessed to the murder. Police stated that the couple frequently argued over his suspicions about Mahak's character. The dispute escalated during their drive, leading him to first strangle her and then slit her throat with a pair of scissors. He allegedly wore gloves during the act to avoid leaving evidence and later staged the scene to resemble a robbery.

Family Suspicions and Additional Details

Mahak's father, Krishna Kathuria, had expressed suspicion against his son-in-law from the outset. Family members also disclosed that Mahak was pregnant at the time of her death, adding a tragic layer to the case. Police have arrested the accused and are proceeding with further investigation to gather all necessary evidence and ensure justice is served.

This case highlights the swift action by law enforcement in solving a heinous crime and underscores the importance of thorough investigation in domestic violence incidents.
