Hosapete Murder: Man Stabbed Over Love Rivalry, Accused Surrender

Hosapete (Vijayanagara): A man was allegedly chased and stabbed to death on a public road in Hosapete on Saturday night, police said.

Victim and Accused

The victim, identified as Yunus, 28, a resident of Panduranga Colony, was allegedly targeted by Khaja and his associate Irfan. The two surrendered at the Hosapete Town police station with the knife used in the crime within hours of the incident.

Motive Behind the Attack

According to police, Khaja was in love with a local woman whose engagement had recently been fixed with another person. He suspected Yunus, the woman’s brother, was responsible for ruining his relationship. With the engagement ceremony scheduled for Sunday, the accused allegedly conspired to kill him.

Details of the Incident

Police sources said the accused lay in wait for Yunus on a road in MP Prakash Nagar on Saturday night before chasing him. They allegedly threw chilli powder into his eyes and, after overpowering him, stabbed him. Yunus succumbed to severe blood loss at the scene.

Surrender and Investigation

After the attack, Khaja and Irfan went straight to the Hosapete Town police station, confessed to the murder and placed the bloodstained knife before the police. ASP Manjunath, DSP Muralidhar Rao and other police personnel visited the spot and conducted an inspection. The body was shifted to the district hospital for postmortem examination.

A case has been registered at the Hosapete Town police station, and the accused have been taken into custody for further investigation.
