Hoodie in 33°C heat cracked the case
In a deadly twist to what would have been a dream wedding, police on Tuesday said 26-year-old Ketan, who died while on a trek on June 18, was allegedly pushed into the gorge by his fiancée Siya (20) and her lover Chetan (22). The breakthrough came from a seemingly minor detail: a hoodie worn in 33°C weather.
The clue that broke the alibi
According to Pune police commissioner Amitesh Kumar, the suspects initially claimed they were not present at the fort. However, CCTV footage from a nearby shop showed a person in a hoodie accompanying Siya. "Why wear a hoodie in 33°C? That was the first red flag," Kumar said. Further investigation revealed Chetan had borrowed the hoodie to avoid identification.
Details of the crime
Ketan, a businessman from Pune, had planned a pre-wedding trek with Siya to Lohagad fort. Police allege that Siya and Chetan, who were in a relationship, conspired to kill Ketan for his insurance money and property. On June 18, during the trek, Chetan allegedly pushed Ketan into a 300-foot gorge. Siya raised an alarm, claiming it was an accident.
Forensic evidence and arrests
Forensic teams found scratches on Chetan's arms consistent with a struggle. Mobile tower data placed both suspects at the scene during the time of death. Siya and Chetan were arrested on June 22 and have been charged with murder and conspiracy. They are currently in police custody.

The case has shocked the local community, with many questioning how a pre-wedding celebration turned into a murder plot. Police are now investigating if there were any other accomplices and are examining financial transactions linked to the suspects. The trial is expected to begin next month.
