In a shocking incident that has sent shivers through the Agra region, the headless body of a 26-year-old taxi driver, missing for two days, was discovered in a tubewell room in a field in Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad district on Sunday morning.
Grisly Discovery and Family's Anguish
The victim has been identified as Saurabh Singh, originally from Etah. He lived with his wife Preeti, their minor son, and his elder brother Mithun in Laxmi Nagar, under the jurisdiction of the Firozabad North police station. The family's nightmare began on Friday evening around 5 pm, when Saurabh left home after informing them that a friend had called him and he would return shortly.
When he did not return and his phone remained switched off, the family grew anxious. Their worst fears were confirmed on Sunday morning when a body was found. The family identified the deceased as Saurabh. In a gruesome twist, his torso was found approximately 1 km away from his in-laws' house in Jakhai village (under Narkhi police station), while his severed head remains missing as of now.
Police Investigation and Suspects Named
Firozabad ASP Ravi Shankar Prasad stated that a case has been registered under section 103 (1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on a complaint filed by Saurabh's brother, Mithun. The First Information Report (FIR) has named two suspects: Saurabh's friend and his brother-in-law.
"We have taken the friend into custody and are interrogating him," said ASP Prasad. He added that four specialized teams have been formed to investigate the brutal murder. The body has been sent for postmortem examination, and forensic teams have collected crucial evidence from the crime scene.
