Hathras Suicide: 19-Year-Old Dies After Lover's Refusal to Marry, Man Held
Hathras woman dies by suicide, neighbour held for abetment

A tragic case of alleged love and betrayal has culminated in the death of a young woman in Hathras, leading to the arrest of a man for abetment of suicide. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community.

Details of the Tragic Incident

Kamini Sharma, a 19-year-old resident, consumed poison on Monday afternoon after a prolonged dispute with her neighbour and alleged lover, Akash. Her family immediately rushed her to a hospital, but doctors could not save her life and declared her dead.

The police investigation took a decisive turn on Tuesday when officers recovered a crucial video from the mobile phone of Kamini's aunt. In the distressing recording, the teenager is heard directly blaming Akash for her extreme decision.

Heartbreaking Video Message Reveals Motive

In the video, Kamini stated that Akash's refusal to honour their relationship with marriage, coupled with his family's strong opposition, left her feeling hopeless. She expressed immense anguish, apologising to her mother and calling her "the best mother in the world."

She conveyed that she did not wish to die but felt compelled to take the drastic step because Akash and his family were unwilling to accept their relationship. Police officials confirmed that the duo had been in a relationship for approximately four years before the tragic fallout.

Legal Action and Police Investigation

Following the recovery of the video evidence and statements from the family, Hathras SP Chiranjeevi Sinha confirmed that an FIR was registered under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Section 108, which pertains to abetment of suicide. Based on the preliminary evidence, the accused neighbour, Akash, was taken into police custody.

A senior police officer involved in the case stated that the investigation is actively ongoing. "All aspects are being examined thoroughly," the officer said. "Further legal action will be determined based on the evidence collected during the probe."

The case highlights the severe emotional and societal pressures that can surround relationships, sometimes leading to devastating consequences. The local police have urged the public to seek help and counselling in times of personal crisis rather than resorting to extreme measures.
