Hathras: Mob Stones Police Station After Child's Road Accident Death

Mob Violence Rocks Hathras Police Station Following Toddler's Tragic Demise

Tension gripped Mursan town in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district on Sunday evening as an angry mob resorted to stone pelting in front of the local police station. The violent protest erupted following the tragic death of a two-and-a-half-year-old child in a devastating road accident earlier in the day.

Tragic Accident Sparks Community Outrage

The incident began around 3:30 PM when the young child, son of a local resident, was playing outside his house in Madhaiya locality of Mursan. According to police reports, a speeding car struck the toddler, leaving him critically injured. The child was immediately rushed to a higher medical facility in Aligarh but tragically succumbed to his injuries during transportation.

Following the heartbreaking news, grief and anger spread rapidly among family members and local residents. A large gathering of relatives and community members converged at the Mursan police station, demanding that the accused driver be handed over to them for immediate justice.

Escalation of Violence Despite Police Action

As emotions ran high, protesters blocked the Mathura-Bareilly road in front of the police station after the child's body arrived at the location. Despite police efforts to control the situation, including the arrest of the car driver and seizure of the vehicle around 7:30 PM, the protests escalated dramatically.

The angry mob began pelting stones at the police station, resulting in injuries to the Station House Officer (SHO) and a constable. Significant property damage occurred at the police facility as the violence intensified throughout the evening.

Police Response and Investigation

Hathras Superintendent of Police Chiranjeev Nath Sinha addressed the situation, stating, "Miscreants involved in the stone pelting are being identified and will be arrested. A case is being registered in connection with the violence."

Police authorities emphasized that while they understand the community's grief over the tragic loss of the young child, violence against law enforcement personnel and public property cannot be tolerated. The investigation continues as authorities work to identify all individuals involved in the stone-pelting incident.

The tragic accident and subsequent violence have highlighted the delicate balance between community emotions and maintaining public order during times of collective grief. Local authorities are working to ensure proper legal proceedings while addressing the community's legitimate concerns about road safety in residential areas.
