Haridwar Murder Case: 23-Year-Old Arrested in Mathura for Teen's Killing

In a tragic incident from Haridwar, a 23-year-old man has been arrested from Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district in connection with the brutal murder of a 15-year-old boy. The arrest was made on Wednesday, following a week-long investigation into the crime that occurred in Haridwar's Kankhal area.

Discovery of the Body and Initial Investigation

The case came to light last Saturday when the body of Kunal Kumar, identified as a daily wage laborer, was discovered in the bushes near the Shri Yantra temple in Kankhal. Police authorities swiftly launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Details of the Fatal Altercation

According to Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Dobal, the incident took place on Friday evening. Kunal Kumar and his close friend Arvind Sharma were reportedly drinking near the temple when a heated argument erupted.

The confrontation escalated after Kunal allegedly made an obscene comment about the character of Arvind's minor sister. This remark triggered a violent response from Arvind, leading to a physical altercation between the two friends.

Brutal Nature of the Crime

In a moment of rage, Arvind Sharma reportedly picked up a stone and crushed Kunal's head with it, resulting in fatal injuries. After committing the act, Arvind immediately fled the scene, leaving Kunal's body in the bushes near the temple premises.

Investigation and Arrest

Police investigation revealed crucial evidence through CCTV footage that confirmed Arvind Sharma as the perpetrator of the crime. The footage clearly showed Arvind committing the murder, providing investigators with concrete proof of his involvement.

"Arvind, originally from Mathura, had been living with his maternal grandparents in Kankhal after his mother drowned in the Ganga River six months ago," explained SSP Pramendra Dobal during the investigation.

The police tracked Arvind to Mathura, where he was apprehended on Wednesday. A case has been registered against him under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to murder charges.

Background of the Accused

Arvind Sharma's relocation to Haridwar followed a personal tragedy - his mother's drowning in the Ganga River half a year prior to the incident. This background adds a layer of complexity to the case, though it does not justify the violent act committed.

The arrest brings some closure to a case that has shocked the local community in Haridwar, highlighting how personal disputes can escalate into fatal violence. Police continue their investigation to ensure all aspects of the case are thoroughly examined.
