Gurgaon BPO Employee Battles for Life After Severe Hit-and-Run Accident
A 28-year-old BPO employee from Gurgaon is currently in a critical condition, fighting for his life after being involved in a devastating hit-and-run accident on the Dwarka Expressway earlier this week. The victim, identified as Raj Shekhar Roy, a trainer with Concentrix at Cyber City, suffered a severe brain haemorrhage and multiple facial fractures in the incident, which occurred near Bajghera.
Details of the Tragic Incident
According to police reports and family statements, Raj Shekhar Roy was riding his motorcycle when he was allegedly struck by an unidentified vehicle that fled the scene immediately after the collision. The impact was so severe that it left him with life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to Manipal Hospital, where he remains in the intensive care unit, unconscious and on life support.
His sister, Preeti, who lives in Kandaghat in Himachal Pradesh's Solan district, received information about the accident on February 23 and immediately traveled to Gurgaon. Upon reaching the hospital, she found her brother in a critical state, with doctors informing the family that he had sustained a brain haemorrhage along with multiple fractures to his face, indicating the high severity of the impact.
Police Investigation and Legal Action
Preeti filed a written complaint with the police on February 25, alleging negligence and reckless driving by the unidentified driver. Based on her complaint, the medico-legal report obtained from the hospital, and a preliminary inquiry, the police at Bajghera police station registered a case under sections 281 (rash driving) and 125(A) (acts endangering human life or personal safety) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Investigating officers visited the hospital soon after the incident and attempted to record Roy's statement on February 23, 24, and 25. However, doctors declared him unfit to speak on each occasion due to his critical medical condition. Police efforts are now focused on tracing the vehicle involved, including scanning CCTV footage from the Dwarka Expressway and nearby areas to identify the driver and vehicle responsible.
