Two Migrant Workers Killed in Gurgaon Hit-and-Run Accidents Within 48 Hours
Gurgaon: 2 Migrant Workers Killed in Separate Hit-and-Runs

In a tragic 48-hour period, Gurgaon witnessed two separate fatal road accidents that claimed the lives of migrant workers from Bihar. In both cases, the drivers responsible fled the scene, leaving behind grieving families and a police force scrambling for answers.

First Incident: Pedestrian Struck Near KMP Corridor

The first tragedy unfolded on Tuesday afternoon around 3:30 PM. Anil Ram, a migrant labourer, was walking along the roadside near the Minda Company on the Vazirpur-Farrukhnagar Road, close to the KMP corridor. Police reports indicate he was not attempting to cross the road but was hit by a vehicle with such severe force that he died instantly on the spot.

A police official confirmed the callous nature of the act, stating, "The driver did not stop." Following the incident, an FIR was registered at the local police station. The case has been filed under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the unidentified driver who remains at large.

Second Case: Vegetable Vendor Crushed by Speeding Canter

Merely a day later, on Wednesday evening, another life was cut short. Vijay Kumar Shah, a 35-year-old vegetable vendor also hailing from Bihar, met with a horrific fate. He was sitting beside his cart near the gate of Masani Mata Temple (Choti Mata Mandir) when a speeding Eicher canter crushed him to death.

In a repeat of the previous day's events, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the location. Police have registered an FIR under the same BNS sections—281 and 106. Authorities have seized the abandoned canter and are using it as a key piece of evidence in their efforts to identify and apprehend the accused.

Families Left Without Breadwinners

The human cost of these accidents is profound and extends far beyond the city limits. Police investigations revealed that both Anil Ram and Vijay Kumar Shah had migrated to Gurgaon in search of work and were the sole breadwinners for their families back in Bihar. Their untimely deaths have plunged their dependents into immediate financial and emotional crisis.

Meanwhile, Gurgaon police are intensifying their search for the absconding drivers. The investigations in both cases are active, with teams scanning CCTV footage and pursuing leads to trace the culprits. These incidents have once again highlighted critical issues of road safety, driver accountability, and the vulnerabilities faced by migrant workers in urban centres.
