Gumla Police Bust Major Marijuana Racket, Arrest Father-Son Duo with 48 Kg Ganja
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Gumla police arrested a father-son duo from the Baraik Muhalla locality of Gumla town early on Thursday. The arrests were made on charges of stocking marijuana, commonly known as ganja, for illegal sale, according to official police statements released on Thursday.
Massive Seizure of Narcotics and Cash
The police operation resulted in the seizure of a substantial consignment of marijuana weighing 48 kilograms. The narcotics were meticulously packed into 32 separate packets, indicating a well-organized distribution network. In addition to the drugs, law enforcement officials confiscated cash amounting to Rs 39,280 from the suspects' residence during the raid.
Identities and Criminal Backgrounds Revealed
Those apprehended have been identified as Rahul Kumar Singh and his father, Raj Kishore Singh, who also goes by the alias Guddu Singh. Gumla Superintendent of Police Haris Bin Zaman provided details on the operation, stating that a dedicated police team, led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Suresh Prasad Yadav and Officer-in-Charge of Gumla Sadar Police Station Mahandra Karmali, executed the raid based on credible intelligence.
"Both individuals have past criminal histories, which factored into our investigation," SP Zaman emphasized. "They have been formally booked under the stringent provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, reflecting the seriousness of the offense."
