A government school teacher in Bihar's Bhojpur district lost his life in a tragic road accident on Thursday morning. The fatal collision occurred on the bypass road near Ara town, highlighting the dangers of speeding and poor visibility during winter fog.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The victim, identified as Dheerendra Kumar Singh (50), was a resident of Bhadeya village under the Dhobahan police station area. The accident took place around 9 am near Ahirpurwa Mor on the bypass road under the jurisdiction of the Ara Town police station. Singh was on his way to his school in the Koilwar block when a speeding truck hit his motorcycle from behind.
Eyewitnesses present at the scene reported that dense fog and the high speed of the truck were the primary factors that led to the devastating collision. The impact was so severe that the teacher was killed on the spot.
Colleague's Account and Immediate Aftermath
A colleague of the deceased teacher shared a harrowing account of discovering the tragedy. "I called him around 9.40 am but his phone was switched off," the colleague stated. "I tried again at 10 am but there was no response. At about 10.25 am, when I called once more, a police officer answered and informed me that he had died in a road accident on the bypass road."
Following this shocking news, the school was closed, and staff members rushed to the Ara Sadar Hospital in Ara. The police had already transported Singh's body to the hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Public Outrage and Road Blockade
The incident sparked immediate anger among local residents. Grieving and demanding justice, angry locals blocked the crucial Ara-Patna road near Ahirpurwa Mor for a significant period on Thursday morning.
The protesters had two clear demands: adequate compensation for the bereaved family and the immediate arrest of the truck driver responsible for the accident. The blockade caused major disruptions to traffic on the important route.
The protest was eventually lifted after personnel from the Ara Town police station intervened. The police officials assured the gathered crowd that appropriate legal action would be taken in the case, leading to the dispersal of the demonstrators.
This tragic event underscores the persistent issue of road safety in the region, particularly during the winter months when fog reduces visibility. It also brings to light the human cost of reckless driving, cutting short the life of a dedicated educator serving his community.
