Audio Threats Spark Gang War Fears in Chandigarh

Fears of an escalating gang war have gripped Chandigarh after the brutal daylight murder of a former gang member was followed by chilling audio threats from a rival. The city's streets became the scene of a targeted killing on Monday when Inderpreet Singh, alias Parry, a one-time close associate of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was gunned down.

The situation intensified dramatically on Tuesday with the release of two audio clips. The voice in the clips, purportedly that of Bishnoi's rival, Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, issued a direct threat to kill Lawrence Bishnoi to avenge Parry's murder. Police authorities are currently working to verify the authenticity of these alarming recordings.

A Family's Tragedy and a Mother's Shock

While gangland politics play out, a family mourns the loss of a son who they claim wanted to leave his criminal past behind. Parry's relatives have stated that his decision to quit crime and disassociate from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang led to his murder.

"He was acquitted in eight of the 12 cases against him," revealed a family member. "He got married on November 13 and wanted to start life afresh, leaving the life of crime behind. But the Lawrence gang was not happy with his decision." The family emphasized their financial stability, with one relative asserting, "We are affluent. We don't need his crime money."

The tragedy has devastated the family, particularly Parry's mother. "Losing her newly-married son has sent Parry’s mother into a state of shock," said Harneet Singh, Parry's brother, who serves as an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) with the Punjab police. Their father is a retired Punjab police inspector.

The Final Hours: A Fateful Call and a Trap

Recounting the events of that fateful day, Parry's kin provided a detailed timeline. On the day of the murder, he left home around 4 pm to drop off his bride. Upon returning, he received a call from a friend and left again. He later met friends at a club in Sector 26.

It was there that he received the final, fatal call. Lawrence Bishnoi himself called Parry, congratulated him on his recent wedding, and said he needed to discuss a personal issue. Bishnoi asked Parry to meet at the nearby timber market, assuring him that his associates would be there and it would be a safe place to talk.

When Parry reached the designated spot, he was shot dead. This sequence of events is corroborated by the threatening audio clips attributed to Goldy Brar, which describe the same deceptive phone call from Bishnoi that lured Parry to his death.

The voice on the clip chillingly details, "He asked Parry to come to a place in Sector 26, saying some of his gang members would meet him there... When Parry arrived to talk, he was murdered." The audio then escalates the conflict with a stark warning to Lawrence Bishnoi: "No one in the world can save you now."

Betrayal and a Deep Personal Connection

Adding a layer of deep personal betrayal to the crime, Parry's brother, Harneet Singh, revealed to The Times of India that Lawrence Bishnoi was a frequent visitor to their family home and would often stay overnight. "My mother would feed Lawrence like a son," he mourned, "and he repaid her love by killing Parry."

This intimate connection between the victim's family and the alleged mastermind paints a grim picture of the personal bonds fractured by gangland loyalties and vendettas. As the police investigation continues and the authenticity of the threat audios is verified, Chandigarh remains on edge, anticipating the potential fallout from this high-stakes gangland confrontation.
