A departmental inquiry has been initiated against two police sub-inspectors and a woman who claimed to be a lawyer, following a major altercation over parking in Ghaziabad's Budana area. The incident, which occurred on December 21 outside a residence on Niwari Road, escalated into a public confrontation captured on video.
The Parking Dispute That Sparked the Confrontation
According to the complaint filed by house owner Abhishek Nehra, he returned home late on the night of December 21 to find two cars—a Hyundai Verna and a Tata Curvv—parked on the ramp outside his gate, completely blocking the entry. Nehra alleged that the woman, identified as Mundresh, and the two sub-inspectors, Jeetendra Raghav and Mukul Kumar from Niwari police station, were sitting in one vehicle and drinking.
"There was no way to enter the house, so I requested them to move the car," Nehra stated in his complaint. This simple request, however, triggered an aggressive response. Nehra claimed that SI Jeetendra Raghav, flaunting his police uniform, verbally abused him and issued a threat. "He said, ‘I am a sub-inspector at Niwari police station. If you speak too much, I'll pick you up and take you to the police station'," Nehra alleged.
Viral Videos Capture Heated Exchanges and Claims
The situation intensified as all three occupants stepped out of the car. In video clips now being examined by the police, the woman is heard making provocative statements. "This road is not your father's. Call the SHO, call whoever you want. I am a Jat. Don't teach me the Constitution. I am a lawyer myself," she asserted.
When Nehra responded that there were lawyers in his family too, she retorted, "I am a lawyer myself. I will be very rude—do whatever you want." The videos also capture her making claims about wealth and influence, shouting, "I am a Jat's daughter. I am 10 times richer than you. I will buy 50 Thars while standing here," and, "You are messing with a Jat today. The entire market in Ghaziabad is ours. Rajnagar Extension is also ours."
Nehra stated that as tensions peaked, one of the sub-inspectors intervened, persuaded the woman to get back into the vehicle, and the group eventually left the scene.
Counter-Complaint and Police Action
In a twist to the case, police revealed that the woman had earlier filed a formal complaint against Abhishek Nehra and his friend, Shubham, at the Niwari police station on the same day. Her version presented a starkly different narrative. She alleged that around 12:30 am, while traveling with her two daughters from a birthday party in Meerut, a white Thar vehicle began following her car.
She claimed the vehicle chased them and forced them to stop near Globe Society on Niwari Road. "Two young men forcibly stopped our car, banged on the window, opened the door and grabbed my hand, attempting to pull me out," she alleged, identifying the men as Nehra and Shubham. She stated they used indecent language, leaving her and her daughters traumatized. Based on her complaint, an FIR was registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including:
- Section 74 (Assault or use of criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty)
- Section 78 (Stalking)
- Section 126 (Wrongful restraint)
- Section 131 (Punishment for assault or criminal force otherwise than on grave provocation)
- Section 352 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace)
However, after the videos of the roadside argument surfaced, police ordered a separate inquiry into the conduct of their own personnel. DCP (Rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari informed that the investigation has been handed over to ACP Modinagar Amit Saxena.
"Based on the initial findings, I have written to senior authorities recommending the suspension of SI Jeetendra Raghav for his involvement in the case," DCP Tiwari said. He added that further departmental action would be determined once the inquiry report is submitted.
The case highlights issues of alleged power misuse and has put the conduct of the police personnel under intense scrutiny. The internal inquiry is expected to establish the sequence of events and the roles played by all individuals involved in the late-night dispute.
