Family of Five Found Dead in Locked Kasganj House, Police Suspect Murder-Suicide

In a deeply distressing incident, five members of a single family, including three young children, were discovered deceased inside their locked home in Amanpur town, located within Uttar Pradesh's Kasganj district, on Saturday evening. Following a preliminary examination of the scene, police authorities are strongly considering the possibility of a murder–suicide as the cause of this tragic event.

Discovery and Initial Response

The victims have been identified as Shyamveer Singh, a 50-year-old welder, his wife Ramshree, aged 46, their daughters Prachi, 14, and Akanksha, 12, and their son Girish, who was 10 years old. The family resided near a petrol pump in the Amanpur area. Concerned neighbours alerted the police after observing that the house had remained shut for an unusually extended period and, critically, spotting Shyamveer's body hanging inside through an iron grill window.

Police teams arrived at the location around 6:30 PM. Finding the doors locked from the inside, they were forced to cut open the main door using a welding machine to gain entry. Inside, officers found Shyamveer Singh hanging from the ceiling, while his wife and three children were discovered lying within the same room.

Official Statements and Investigation Details

Senior police officers, forensic experts, and a dog squad were promptly deployed to the scene. The premises were secured, and a meticulous process of evidence collection was initiated. Kasganj Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma provided crucial details regarding the case.

"We received information about the incident at 6:30pm," stated SP Sharma. "The house has one door in front and one at the back and both were locked from the inside. There are no signs of forced entry. Five bodies have been recovered, one of Shyamveer and four of his family members. All bodies have been taken into custody and necessary action is being taken."

Sharma further elaborated on the initial findings, "Prima facie, it appears that Shyamveer carried out the incident and later hanged himself, but we are investigating all aspects. Ramshree has one injury on her neck, which will be examined during the post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death. We are considering every possible angle."

Ongoing Probe and Context

During the initial inspection, the three children—Prachi, Akanksha, and Girish—did not display any visible external injury marks. All five bodies have been sent for a comprehensive post-mortem examination to ascertain the precise causes and manner of death. Investigators have also begun questioning neighbours and relatives to piece together the sequence of events and potential motives leading to this tragedy.

Officials noted that Shyamveer Singh had been operating a welding shop on a rental basis in the local area for approximately the past five years. This heartbreaking incident follows a series of similar family tragedies reported in the region recently. Just days prior, a comparable case emerged in Mathura, where a man allegedly killed his wife and three children before dying by electrocution. Earlier this month, a 32-year-old property dealer and his wife were found dead in northeast Delhi's Harsh Vihar area, with preliminary investigations pointing toward suicide following a domestic dispute.

The police investigation in Kasganj remains active and thorough, with authorities committed to uncovering the full truth behind this devastating loss of an entire family unit.
