In a disturbing incident linked to political campaigning, the MHB Colony Police in Mumbai have taken legal action against a group of political workers following a violent altercation in Borivali. The police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against eight to ten members of the Shiv Sena, belonging to the Shinde faction, for allegedly assaulting a local resident.
Door-to-Door Campaigning Turns Violent
The episode unfolded on Monday evening, around 6:30 PM, in the Borivali West area, close to New Link Road. Workers from the Shiv Sena were engaged in door-to-door campaigning for the upcoming civic elections. During this activity, they entered the property of a man identified as Vijay Patil, a resident of Borivali.
Patil reportedly objected to the party workers entering his premises without his consent. This objection sparked a heated argument between Patil and the campaigning team. The situation quickly escalated beyond a war of words.
Altercation Escalates to Physical Assault
What began as a verbal spat soon snowballed into physical violence. According to reports, the group of Sena workers allegedly began raining blows on Vijay Patil. The assault left the resident injured and shaken, prompting the need for police intervention.
Following the incident, local authorities at the MHB Colony police station were informed about the attack. After preliminary inquiries, the police officially registered a case against the accused individuals.
