A minor traffic disagreement in Faridabad's Ballabgarh area spiraled into a violent confrontation when a youth allegedly opened fire at a man who had objected to his reckless driving. The incident, which occurred on Balaji College Road under the jurisdiction of the Adarsh Nagar police station, has prompted a police complaint and an ongoing investigation.
Details of the Altercation and Shooting
According to the complainant, Vivek, he was on his way to work around 10:30 AM when he observed a youth riding a motorcycle in a dangerous manner, with a young woman seated behind him. Concerned for safety, Vivek confronted the rider and urged him to drive more responsibly. This led to a heated argument between the two parties.
The situation quickly deteriorated, with the youth and the woman allegedly assaulting Vivek. During the physical altercation, the youth reportedly retrieved a pistol from his bag and aimed it at Vivek. In an attempt to defend himself, Vivek tried to seize the weapon, and in the ensuing struggle, a gunshot was fired that grazed his face.
Aftermath and Police Response
Before the accused could discharge another round, Vivek successfully wrested the pistol away. The sound of the gunshot attracted local residents to the scene, causing the accused and the woman to flee in panic. In their haste, they left behind their bag, the firearm, and the motorcycle at the location.
Police teams arrived promptly after being notified and took custody of the seized items. An officer stated, "CCTV footage from the area is being examined to identify and trace the accused. Efforts are underway to arrest both the youth and the woman involved in the incident." The investigation is focused on reviewing surveillance videos and gathering witness statements to apprehend the suspects.
