A terrifying road accident unfolded in Jaipur on Thursday when a speeding dumper truck collided with a car and dragged it for a considerable distance. Miraculously, all three occupants of the car, including a 16-year-old girl, escaped without serious injuries. The incident has raised fresh concerns about road safety, especially during foggy winter conditions.
The Terrifying Chase Through VKI Area
The ordeal began at around 11:30 am in the VKI industrial area under the jurisdiction of the VKI police station. According to officials, a family was travelling from Ghaziabad to Chittorgarh. The car was being driven by the father, with his wife Bairagi and their teenage daughter as passengers.
As they neared Road number 14 in VKI, a dumper truck, allegedly being driven at high speed, rammed into their vehicle. Instead of stopping, the dumper driver continued moving, dragging the mangled car along with it. The chase stretched from Police Chowki No. 5, past Tondwal Marriage Garden, all the way to Dadi Ka Phatak.
Shouts for Help and a Muddy End
During the harrowing drag, the trapped family and horrified bystanders along the road shouted and waved frantically, trying to get the dumper driver to stop. Their pleas went unheard until fate intervened in an unexpected way. Both vehicles finally came to a halt after getting stuck in mud near Dadi Ka Phatak.
This allowed alert locals to immediately catch hold of the dumper driver. They also rushed to help pull the terrified family out of their severely damaged car. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Raghu Nandan of the Accident Police Station (West) confirmed that no one suffered fatal injuries in the shocking event.
Police Response and Ongoing Investigation
On receiving information, police teams from Murlipura Police Station and Banipark Accident Police Station rushed to the spot. The authorities swiftly took control of the situation. The dumper truck was seized, and normal traffic flow was restored in the area.
While the family was fortunate to survive, the incident has left them shaken. Preliminary investigation points to low visibility due to foggy conditions as a possible cause of the initial collision. However, police officials stated that a thorough investigation into the full sequence of events is currently underway to determine liability and any potential lapses.
