Family's Demands and Decision to Receive Body
For six days, John Mark's family refused to accept his body, demanding comprehensive government assistance as a condition. Their key demands included financial support, a government job for his wife Kannagi, who is also differently abled, and educational assistance for their children. The protest highlighted the family's desperate need for security and support following the devastating loss.
However, in a poignant turn of events, the family decided to receive the body on Monday after Kannagi herself made a heartfelt request. This decision brought an end to the emotional standoff, allowing the final rites to proceed amidst ongoing grief and calls for justice.

The murder took place during a horrifying incident on March 2, when a gang of nine masked individuals arrived on three motorcycles at a tea shop in Perumpathu village. They launched an unprovoked and brutal assault using sickles and even hurled a Molotov cocktail, causing chaos and destruction.
This violent attack resulted in the deaths of two individuals: John Mark and Trinath Kata. Additionally, five other people sustained injuries in the melee, underscoring the severity and recklessness of the gang's actions.
