Former MLA's Son Murdered in Dharwad: Police Crack Case Within 24 Hours, Arrest Four Accused
In a swift and decisive police operation, the rural police in Dharwad have solved a shocking murder case involving Raju Bolashetti, the son of a former MLA from Bailhongal. The victim was found completely burnt inside a car near Ramapur in Dharwad taluk, and the investigation was concluded within a single day, showcasing remarkable efficiency by the authorities.
Details of the Murder and Arrests
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Superintendent of Police Gunjan Arya revealed that the murder was committed by a 32-year-old woman named Munera Sharif Dillunayak from Bidaragaddi village in Bailhongal taluk. Munera, who worked as a school cook, was allegedly in an illicit relationship with Raju for about two years. She involved her minor son in the crime, leading to a total of four arrests in the case.
The other arrested individuals include Mrutyunjaya Devappa Kambar, aged 26, and Basavaraj Ramappa Pujeri, aged 30, both also from Bidaragaddi village. The murder occurred on March 23 at 8:30 PM due to conflicts arising between Raju and Munera. The police have recovered the knife and iron rod used in the commission of the crime, providing crucial evidence for the investigation.
Investigation and Evidence Recovery
Initially, the accused planned to bury the body to conceal their actions. However, they later changed their strategy and decided to take Raju's car to a deserted area near Ramapur in Dharwad taluk, a location known to Mrutyunjaya. There, they set the vehicle on fire in an attempt to destroy all evidence related to the murder.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the police formed four dedicated teams to spearhead the investigation. By tracing the vehicle number, officers first identified the victim and gathered detailed information about him. This initial step proved instrumental in tracking down the accused within a remarkably short timeframe of just one day.
CCTV footage played a pivotal role in the investigation, revealing that the accused had purchased petrol from a bunk and used a bike to transport it to the scene where they burned the body. This evidence helped corroborate the sequence of events and solidify the case against the perpetrators.

Superintendent of Police Gunjan Arya praised the investigative team for their commendable work in solving the case so rapidly. The team was led by DSP Shivanand Katagi, along with officers Vinod Muktedar and Rural Inspector S S Kamatagi.
