In a dramatic turn of events, expelled former BJP legislator Suresh Rathore and a woman named Urmila Sanawar, who identifies as his "wife," have disappeared from the radar of the Haridwar police. The duo has been untraceable for four days after a formal case was registered against them concerning a controversial audio clip connected to the high-profile Rishikesh resort murder case.
The Case and the Controversial Audio Clip
The police action was triggered last week when an audio clip went viral on social media platforms. In this recording, Suresh Rathore is allegedly heard disclosing the name of a "VIP" in relation to the murder investigation. The clip's circulation prompted the Haridwar police to file a case and subsequently form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter thoroughly.
Leading the SIT, Superintendent of Police (City) Abhay Singh provided updates on the search. "Notices have been served at Sanawar's residence in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and at Rathore's home in Jawalapur, Haridwar," Singh stated. He added that Rathore's family informed the police that the former MLA is currently out of the city and has promised to contact the authorities soon.
Political Fallout and Social Media Drama
The case has quickly escalated into a political flashpoint. Seizing the opportunity to target the ruling BJP in Uttarakhand, Congress party workers and local residents organized protests, demanding the immediate arrest of the unnamed "VIP" referenced in the audio. The political pressure is mounting on the state administration.
Adding to the intrigue, Urmila Sanawar posted a video on social media just two days ago. In her statement, she claimed that the police were attempting to arrest her and asserted her willingness to cooperate with the investigation. The individual who first shared the now-deleted audio clip online, Congress worker Manoj Saini, revealed that he received the file from Sanawar herself. Saini has called for an independent and fair investigation into the underlying murder case.
Past Legal Entanglements Surface
Further complicating the situation, police disclosed that Urmila Sanawar is already a wanted figure in two separate cases. Two blackmail cases have been filed against her at the Jawalapur and Ranipur police stations. Interestingly, these complaints were lodged by none other than Suresh Rathore and his legal wife, painting a picture of complex personal and legal disputes preceding the current scandal.
With the primary accused missing, an SIT actively investigating, and political temperatures rising, the case continues to unfold. The Haridwar police remain on the lookout for Suresh Rathore and Urmila Sanawar as they piece together the connection between the explosive audio clip and the Rishikesh resort murder.
