Tragic Drunk Driving Accident Claims Two Lives in Erode District
A devastating road accident has resulted in the deaths of two young men and left another seriously injured in the Sathyamangalam area of Erode district. The incident occurred late on Wednesday night, casting a shadow over the local community.
Details of the Fatal Incident
The tragedy unfolded around 11:15 PM when three friends were returning home on a motorcycle bearing registration number TN 36 BU 5161. According to Sub-Inspector Vaira Kumar of the Sathyamangalam police station, preliminary investigations have confirmed that all three individuals were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
The rider, identified as M Rajendran, 29, lost control of the vehicle, causing the motorcycle to skid violently on the road. This sudden loss of control led to all three occupants being thrown from the two-wheeler.
Victims and Immediate Aftermath
The deceased have been identified as M Perarasu, 19, and M Rajendran, 29. Both young men were residents of the Amman Koil Pirivu area in Sathyamangalam and worked as coolies. The injured person is M Guna, 19, who hails from Rajiv Nagar.
Police reports indicate that Perarasu and Rajendran suffered severe head injuries in the crash and were pronounced dead at the scene. Guna sustained multiple fractures and was immediately provided with emergency medical attention.
Emergency Response and Medical Treatment
Upon receiving information about the accident, the Sathyamangalam police swiftly arrived at the location. The injured Guna was transported to the Government Hospital in Sathyamangalam for initial treatment. The bodies of the two victims were also sent to the same facility for postmortem examination.
After receiving first aid at the local hospital, Guna was referred to the Coimbatore Government Medical College and Hospital for more advanced medical care and further treatment of his injuries.
