Elderly Couple Brutally Murdered in Beawar Home, Police Arrest Maid and Accomplices
In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, an elderly couple living alone in Beawar city, Rajasthan, was found brutally murdered in their residence on Sunday night. The gruesome discovery was made after neighbors noticed that the water tank on the couple's roof had been overflowing for an extended period, raising concerns about their well-being.
Discovery of the Crime Scene
The victims have been identified as Vinod Sharma, aged 66, and his wife Purnima Sharma, aged 65, residents of Sanket Nagar in Beawar. Police were alerted to the scene around 10 PM on Sunday after neighbors reported the suspicious overflow. Upon arrival, officers found the couple deceased with severe injuries, and an iron rod was discovered at the spot, believed to be the murder weapon.
The incident created a sensation in the neighborhood, prompting immediate action from law enforcement. Senior police officials, including Beawar Superintendent of Police Ratan Singh, rushed to the location along with a forensic team to secure evidence and begin the investigation.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Acting swiftly, police reviewed footage from CCTV cameras installed in the colony, which led to the identification of four suspects. Among them was the maid who worked at the Sharma household. Barricades were set up on all major roads in the area, and search teams were deployed at the railway station and bus stand to apprehend the suspects.
By around noon on Monday, police had detained the maid, along with her two minor sons aged 15 and 17, and a man known to her, identified as Rahul Parihar, a 21-year-old native of Pali district currently residing in Beawar. According to police sources, the group went to the couple's home on Sunday evening with the intention to rob them. When the elderly couple resisted, they were allegedly killed by the assailants, who then fled the scene.
Family and Criminal Background
The couple's son, a software engineer working in Gurugram, reached home on Monday morning and informed police that goods were missing from the house, corroborating the robbery motive. After the postmortem was conducted, the bodies were handed over to him for last rites.
Police sources revealed that Rahul Parihar has a criminal background, with several cases already registered against him. This detail adds a layer of complexity to the investigation, suggesting prior involvement in illegal activities. The involvement of the maid's minor sons has also raised concerns about juvenile delinquency in the case.
The arrests have brought some relief to the tense community, but the brutality of the crime has left residents in shock. Authorities continue to investigate the full extent of the incident, ensuring that justice is served for the grieving family.
