ED Summons Bengal Minister Sujit Bose Again in Scam

The Enforcement Directorate has issued a fresh summons to West Bengal Fire Minister and Trinamool Congress candidate from Bidhannagar, Sujit Bose, on Saturday, directing him to appear before the agency on May 6. This comes a day after Bose was questioned for nearly nine hours on Friday in connection with the municipal recruitment scam.

Bose's Previous Appearance and Court Order

Bose, who had been summoned multiple times by the ED for questioning in the recruitment scam, finally appeared before the agency on May 1. He had previously moved the Calcutta High Court, citing election work as a reason for non-appearance. Justice Krishna Rao's bench had directed Bose to appear at the ED office on May 1. On Friday, his son Samudra was also summoned by the central agency. The ED had earlier raided Bose's home and office.

Bose's Statement After Questioning

Coming out of the CGO complex office on Friday, Bose stated, "I came as a witness. I will certainly come if called for cooperation in the investigation. Doing business is never a crime. Stealing is a crime."

Summons to Rathin Ghosh

Trinamool leader Rathin Ghosh was also summoned by the ED on the same day in the recruitment corruption case. Ghosh had been sent summons multiple times by the central agency. While the Bengal poll results will be announced on Monday, Ghosh has been summoned to the ED office the day after. In October 2023, Ghosh was questioned by the ED in the recruitment corruption case, and his house was searched subsequently.
