The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized a significant cache of assets, including five luxury cars and Rs 17 lakh in cash, during extensive raids linked to absconding music director and producer Inderjit Singh Yadav. The two-day search operation, conducted on December 26 and 27, targeted ten locations across Delhi, Gurugram, and Rohtak in connection with a major money laundering investigation.
Details of the ED Search Operation
The raids were part of an ongoing probe into more than 15 First Information Reports (FIRs) filed by police forces in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. These FIRs paint a serious picture of Yadav's alleged activities. The ED alleges that Yadav, who operates from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is the owner and key controller of Gem Records Entertainment Pvt Ltd, which functions under the brand 'Gems Tunes'.
Authorities describe him as a known strongman involved in a wide array of criminal activities. The charges against him and his associates include murder, extortion, fraud, cheating, illegal land grabbing, and violent offences. A central allegation is his involvement in the coercive settlement of loans given by private financiers.
The Web of Financial Crime and Coercive Settlements
The ED's investigation uncovered a sophisticated operation. Searches revealed that Yadav developed and operated a dedicated website or portal used for settling loans between corporate houses and private financiers. The probe found that movable and immovable assets were acquired in the names of Yadav and his family members using the proceeds of crime.
A specific modus operandi was identified. Corporate entities, including firms like Apollo Green Energy Limited, allegedly borrowed large sums of money in cash from private financiers based in Jhajjar, Haryana. They issued post-dated cheques as security for these loans.
According to the ED, Yadav then stepped in to facilitate coercive settlement of these high-value private loan transactions and financial disputes, which ran into hundreds of crores of rupees. The settlements were not amicable; the FIRs state they were executed through threats, intimidation, and the use of armed associates or local armed gangs. The involvement of organised crime syndicates operating from abroad is also alleged.
Scale of the Alleged Racket and Seized Items
The scale of the alleged financial racket is enormous. Yadav is suspected to have earned hundreds of crores of rupees as commissions from these corporate clients for his coercive settlement services. The two-day ED operation aimed to dismantle this network and gather evidence.
Apart from the Rs 17 lakh in cash and the five luxury vehicles, officials also seized incriminating documents and targeted bank lockers during the searches. These items are expected to provide further details on the money trail and the extent of the assets acquired through alleged illegal means.
The case highlights the intersection of financial crime, intimidation, and the alleged misuse of corporate structures. The Enforcement Directorate continues its investigation to trace the full extent of the proceeds of crime and build a legally robust case against Inderjit Singh Yadav and his associates.
