A night of chaos unfolded on Gola Road in Danapur, Patna, this Wednesday, leaving four individuals injured and a vehicle reduced to ashes by an angry mob. The incident, a hit-and-run involving a speeding SUV, has once again put the spotlight on road safety and public outrage.

Chaos on Gola Road: The Incident Unfolds

According to eyewitness accounts, the driver of an SUV was speeding recklessly through the area. Allegedly under the influence of alcohol, the motorist lost control of the vehicle. The SUV then plowed into multiple two-wheelers and pedestrians who were on the road at the time.

The impact left four people, including one woman, with serious injuries. The immediate aftermath saw tempers flare as locals, witnessing the scene, became enraged. The situation escalated rapidly from an accident to a public outburst.

Public Outrage and Police Intervention

Infuriated by the incident, bystanders and locals surrounded the SUV. In a fit of anger, they set the vehicle on fire, creating a scene of utter chaos. The crowd also allegedly assaulted the driver, who was later taken into custody by the police.

Authorities were promptly informed and a team reached Gola Road to bring the volatile situation under control. The Danapur fire brigade was also summoned to the spot to extinguish the blazing SUV. The injured victims were rushed to Danapur Sadar Hospital for initial medical aid.

Investigation Underway, Victims Referred to PMCH

Due to the severity of their injuries, all four victims were subsequently referred to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for advanced treatment. Their current condition is being monitored.

Speaking on the investigation, Danapur SHO Prashant Kumar Bharadwaj stated that the police are actively probing the case. "The driver is in our custody," said SHO Bharadwaj. "We are reviewing available CCTV footage from the area and trying to determine the exact circumstances that led to this accident. Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of our investigation."

The case highlights the deadly combination of drunk driving and speeding, while also underscoring the challenges law enforcement faces when public anger boils over into vigilantism. The police are urging citizens to allow legal procedures to take their course.
