In a significant breakthrough, the Gangrar police in Rajasthan's Chittorgarh district have successfully apprehended a notorious criminal who had been evading capture for three years. The accused was wanted in a series of major drug trafficking cases spanning three separate districts, marking a crucial victory for law enforcement.
Operation Sudarshan Chakra Nets Fugitive
The arrest was executed as part of a special police drive named Operation Sudarshan Chakra, a targeted initiative designed to track down and capture wanted criminals. The operation was launched under the directives of Chittorgarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Manish Tripathi. A dedicated team was formed under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sarita Singh and led by Gangrar police station officer Sanjeev Swami.
This coordinated effort culminated in the arrest of the fugitive from the Gangrar police station area. The police identified the accused as 35-year-old Prakash, son of Parthu Jat. His capture is particularly notable as he was carrying a reward of Rs 15,000, which had been announced by the Sriganganagar SP for information leading to his arrest.
String of Major Drug Seizures Linked to Accused
Prakash was a key figure wanted in connection with several substantial narcotics seizures. His most prominent case involves the seizure of a massive 80 kg of poppy husk at the Rajiyasar police station in Sriganganagar district, an incident that occurred three years ago and from which he had been absconding ever since.
However, his alleged involvement in the drug trade did not stop there. Police records indicate he was also accused in two other significant cases:
- A seizure of 230 kg of poppy husk in the Gangrar area approximately 1.5 years ago.
- A seizure of 45 kg of poppy husk at the Kuchaman police station two years ago.
These cases collectively underscore the scale of his alleged operations across the districts of Sriganganagar, Nagaur (Kuchaman), and Chittorgarh.
A Victory for Sustained Police Efforts
The successful arrest after a three-year manhunt highlights the persistence of the Rajasthan police. Operation Sudarshan Chakra has proven effective in bringing long-evading criminals to justice. The arrest of a criminal with such a substantial reward on his head sends a strong message to other fugitives and disrupts a significant drug trafficking network in the region.
Police officials have stated that the accused will now face legal proceedings in the various cases registered against him. This operation reinforces the commitment of the Chittorgarh police to maintain law and order and crack down on organized drug crime, which poses a serious threat to society.
