In a significant security operation, Indian security forces have intercepted a cache of weapons suspected to have been delivered by a drone from Pakistan near the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir. The seizure occurred in the Samba district, highlighting ongoing security challenges ahead of Republic Day celebrations.
Joint Operation Nets Weapons Cache
A coordinated team comprising the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted the operation. Acting on specific intelligence regarding suspected drone movement from across the border, the forces launched an intensive search operation in Paloora village of Ghagwal late on Friday night.
The search led the teams to the banks of a stream where they discovered a suspicious packet tightly wrapped in yellow tape. Exercising extreme caution, the packet was opened with the assistance of a bomb disposal squad. This led to the recovery of the illicit arms consignment.

The recovered items included:

- Sixteen rounds of ammunition
- One grenade
Officials stated that this recovery is part of heightened security measures implemented across the region to preempt and thwart any attempts by terrorist elements to disrupt the upcoming Republic Day festivities. The security grid along the border has been intensified in response to such threats.
Operation Continues, Vigilance High
According to official statements, the search operation was still ongoing when the last reports came in, indicating that forces are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the area is fully sanitized. This incident underscores the evolving nature of cross-border threats, where drones are increasingly being used to smuggle weapons and contraband into Indian territory.
The successful joint operation by the BSF and J&K Police SOG demonstrates the effectiveness of coordinated intelligence and swift action. It serves as a critical reminder of the constant vigilance maintained by security forces along the sensitive International Border, especially during periods of national significance.
