Delhi Police Cracks Down on Major Investment Fraud Syndicate with International Links

In a significant breakthrough, the Delhi Police has successfully dismantled a sophisticated investment fraud racket with connections extending to Dubai, resulting in the arrest of five alleged fraudsters. The syndicate is linked to a minimum of 18 formal complaints, with preliminary financial analysis indicating illicit transactions amounting to several crores of rupees.

How the Elaborate Scam Unfolded and Came to Light

The case first emerged when a complainant, originally from Arunachal Pradesh but currently residing in Delhi, approached the authorities. He reported being defrauded of a substantial sum of Rs 12.22 lakh under the false pretense of a lucrative stock market investment opportunity. According to his statement, he was initially contacted by a woman and her associates, who skillfully persuaded him to invest through what appeared to be a legitimate financial firm.

Lured by promises of exceptionally high returns, the victim proceeded to transfer funds over a period of time. It was only later that he realized the entire operation was a sham, with the company being completely fictitious. This revelation prompted him to file an official complaint, setting the investigation in motion.

Police Investigation Reveals Complex Financial Trail

Following the complaint, a First Information Report (FIR) was officially registered at the cyber police station located in southwest Delhi. Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Amit Goel provided crucial insights into the investigation's findings. "Our detailed probe uncovered that the defrauded money had been systematically routed through a complex network of multiple bank accounts," DCP Goel stated. "This network was primarily operated from the state of Maharashtra."

The investigative team worked meticulously to trace the financial trail, which ultimately led them to the identification and subsequent arrest of the five accused individuals.

Identities of the Accused and Their Modus Operandi

The arrested individuals have been identified as Shridhar Dilip Ingle (25), Archiryan Goraksh Kamble (21), Ajij Miran Shaikh (25), Pranav Jalinder Guldagad (24), and Vishal Durgadas Bachal (25). The arrest of Shridhar Dilip Ingle was made in Shrirampur, Maharashtra. During intensive interrogation, Ingle disclosed critical information about the syndicate's operations.

He confessed to supplying 'mule' bank accounts—accounts used to launder money—on a commission basis to a handler known as Chaitanya. Police reports indicate that Chaitanya is currently based in Dubai, highlighting the international dimension of this fraud network. The remaining four accused were apprehended in subsequent follow-up raids conducted by the police.

A senior police officer involved in the case elaborated on the accused's methodology. "These individuals systematically procured bank accounts from various people and then handed over control of these accounts to organized cyber fraud networks," the officer explained. "These accounts were then utilized exclusively for conducting illegal financial transactions, effectively masking the origin and destination of the fraudulent funds."

Significant Seizures and Ongoing Investigation

As part of the crackdown, law enforcement authorities have seized six mobile phones believed to have been used in the commission of the crimes. More importantly, they have obtained detailed information pertaining to 35 separate bank accounts that were actively employed in the fraudulent activities. These seizures are expected to provide further evidence and potentially lead to more arrests as the investigation continues to unfold.

The Delhi Police has emphasized that this bust is a major step in combating organized cyber financial fraud, particularly those with cross-border elements. The case remains under active investigation as authorities work to uncover the full extent of the syndicate's operations and possibly identify additional accomplices, both domestically and internationally.
