The accused, identified as Avinash, a resident of Malviya Nagar, along with an accomplice, allegedly snatched a beat officer's service pistol and fired at him before making their escape. This brazen attack prompted authorities to announce a reward of Rs 50,000 for information leading to his arrest.

Firozabad ASP Ravi Shanker Prasad provided details of the initial crime, stating, "At approximately 2:20pm in Rose Garden, the accused seized the officer's pistol, fired with clear intent to kill, and fled the scene. The officer had a narrow escape from what could have been a fatal incident." An FIR was promptly registered under BNS section 109(1) for attempt to murder, along with other relevant legal provisions.

Joint Police Operation Leads to Encounter

Through meticulous investigation utilizing CCTV footage and advanced technical analysis, law enforcement agencies traced Avinash to Tundla in Firozabad district. A joint operation was launched by Delhi Police and Tundla Police to apprehend the fugitive.

The suspect was located near Raja Ka Tal, close to the Jarauli Kala cremation ground. Upon spotting the police team, Avinash immediately opened fire, demonstrating continued aggression. Remarkably, the bullets struck the bulletproof jackets of ACP Melvyn Varghese and Inspector Ram Kumar from the special operation cell of South-West Delhi, who escaped unharmed due to their protective gear.
