UP Police Nab Delhi Resident for Using Counterfeit Legislator Pass During Heightened Republic Day Security

In a significant crackdown on identity fraud and security breaches, Uttar Pradesh Police have apprehended Aakash Sansanwal for allegedly utilizing a fabricated MP/MLA pass on his vehicle. This arrest transpired during intensified security protocols implemented ahead of Republic Day celebrations in Meerut on Sunday.

Arrest at Strategic Checkpoint During Routine Inspection

The detention was executed at the Kashi toll plaza situated on the crucial Delhi–Meerut Expressway. Police personnel from the Partapur police station jurisdiction were conducting standard vehicle inspections when they intercepted Sansanwal's Scorpio, which prominently displayed a legislator's pass.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Meerut, Dr. Vipin Tada, provided detailed insights to media representatives, stating, "During our verification process, the pass affixed to Sansanwal's vehicle was conclusively identified as forged. This discovery led to his immediate custody."

Legal Charges and Ongoing Verification of Claims

Authorities have formally registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Sansanwal under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code. These include:

  • Section 318-4: Cheating by Personation or Fraud using False Identity
  • Section 338: Forgery of Valuable Security
  • Section 336: Forgery for the purpose of cheating
  • Section 340: Using a Forged document or electronic record as genuine

Following the legal procedures, Sansanwal has been remanded to judicial custody. Investigators are currently scrutinizing his assertions of being a personal assistant to a sitting Member of Parliament and having close familial connections with the MP's household. Sansanwal is a resident of Katwaria Sarai in Delhi's Kishangarh locality.

Broader Crackdown on Forged Passes and Traffic Violations

This incident occurred within a larger police operation targeting vehicles employing counterfeit passes issued in the names of public representatives. During the same security sweep at the toll plaza, law enforcement officials confiscated five additional vehicles found using fraudulent MP and MLA passes, initiating appropriate action against their drivers.

SSP Tada emphasized that police forces are rigorously pursuing all vehicles utilizing forged credentials and those flouting traffic regulations. In a related development, police have lodged more than fifty FIRs against vehicle owners for various infractions, including the unauthorized use of black window films and other traffic rule breaches.

It is noteworthy that Aakash Sansanwal is engaged to social media influencer Anjali Arora, adding a layer of public interest to this case. The UP Police's vigilant actions underscore their commitment to maintaining stringent security measures during national events and combating impersonation crimes that undermine public trust.
