Family Injured in Suspected LPG Cylinder Explosion in Southeast Delhi

Three members of a family sustained injuries in a blast caused by a suspected cylinder leakage in a residential building in southeast Delhi's Madanpur Khadar area. The incident occurred late on Friday night, prompting an emergency response from authorities.

Police Investigation and Initial Findings

A PCR call regarding the fire was received by police on Friday night. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a sudden explosion had taken place inside the premises while the residents were asleep. Deputy Commissioner of Police Hemant Tiwari stated, "Initial reports suggest an LPG cylinder leakage, but the actual cause will be determined by technical experts after inspection."

Identification and Medical Condition of the Injured

The injured family members have been identified as:

  • Jagdish (52) - A daily-wage mason
  • Laxmi (48) - His wife
  • Jotish (26) - Their son

Medical response teams initially transported Jagdish and Jotish to LBS Hospital, while Laxmi was taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre. All three were subsequently moved to the burns ward at Safdarjung Hospital for specialized treatment. While Jagdish and Jotish were reported to be in stable condition, Laxmi's condition was described as critical.

Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation

An FIR has been registered in connection with the incident, and further investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to the explosion.

Separate Fire Incident in Northwest Delhi

In an unrelated incident, an elderly woman and a dog were successfully rescued after a fire broke out in northwest Delhi's Gujrawala Town on Saturday. Police reported that the fire had erupted on the second and third floors of a house located in Derawal Nagar. During the rescue operation, both the woman and the dog were safely evacuated from the premises.

Safety Concerns and Community Impact

These back-to-back incidents highlight ongoing safety concerns in residential areas of Delhi. The LPG cylinder explosion in Madanpur Khadar has raised questions about gas safety protocols and cylinder maintenance in households. Meanwhile, the successful rescue in Gujrawala Town demonstrates the effectiveness of emergency response teams in handling fire-related emergencies.

Authorities continue to investigate both incidents, with particular focus on determining the precise cause of the LPG cylinder explosion and ensuring proper safety measures are in place to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
