Delhi Gang War Escalates: Man Killed, Three Injured in Bawana Grocery Shop Shooting
In a shocking escalation of gang violence in the national capital, gunmen stormed a grocery shop attached to a residential house in Delhi's Bawana area on Thursday, unleashing a hail of bullets that left one man dead and three others injured, including an eight-year-old boy.
Deadly Attack in Residential Area
The brazen daylight shooting occurred when unidentified assailants entered the small grocery establishment and fired approximately a dozen rounds indiscriminately. The primary target, 30-year-old Ravi, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His 55-year-old father, Anil, suffered gunshot wounds to his legs during the violent encounter.
The violence spilled beyond the intended targets, with a 46-year-old passerby named Rajkumar and an innocent eight-year-old boy becoming unintended victims of stray bullets. Rajkumar was shot in the leg, while the young boy sustained a bullet-graze wound on his leg. Police sources have confirmed that all three injured victims are currently out of danger and receiving medical treatment.
Gang Rivalry Suspected Behind Targeted Killing
Delhi Police investigators have identified the shooting as a likely gangland execution, pointing to the long-standing and bloody feud between the notorious Gogi and Tillu Tajpuria criminal syndicates. According to senior police officials, the deceased Ravi had suspected links to the Gogi gang, making him a target for rival Tillu Tajpuria faction members.
"This appears to be another chapter in the violent rivalry between these two gangs that has claimed numerous lives over the past decade," stated a senior police officer involved in the investigation. "We are conducting extensive raids across Delhi and neighboring Haryana to apprehend the shooters."
History of Violence and Criminal Records
The investigation has revealed that Ravi had a prior criminal record, having been arrested under the Arms Act in 2022. During that arrest, police allegedly recovered four pistols from his possession, indicating his involvement in armed criminal activities.
The Gogi-Tillu rivalry represents one of Delhi's most persistent and deadly gang conflicts, with police records indicating that over two dozen individuals have been killed in related violence spanning more than ten years. The conflict reached dramatic heights in recent years with the high-profile killings of both gang leaders.
- In 2021, Jitender Gogi, the kingpin of the Gogi gang, was shot dead inside the Rohini court complex in a dramatic assassination.
- A year later, his rival Tillu Tajpuria was killed within the high-security confines of Tihar Jail.
- Just last month, another suspected Gogi gang associate, Sahil Solanki, was shot in the head while walking near his residence in Delhi.
Ongoing Police Investigation
Delhi Police have launched a comprehensive investigation into Thursday's shooting, treating it as a case of murder and attempted murder. Forensic teams have collected evidence from the crime scene, while multiple police teams are pursuing leads to identify and capture the perpetrators.
The incident has raised serious concerns about public safety in residential areas, particularly as innocent bystanders, including a child, were caught in the crossfire of what police believe was a targeted gang hit. Authorities have assured increased vigilance and patrolling in vulnerable areas as they work to dismantle these criminal networks and prevent further violence.
