Woman Allegedly Drugs and Robs Youth After Dating App Encounter in Zirakpur Hotel

In a shocking incident that highlights the risks of online dating, a young woman is accused of drugging and robbing a youth after they connected through a dating application. The crime unfolded at a hotel situated on the busy Zirakpur-Panchkula Road, sending ripples through the local community and prompting a swift police response.

Details of the Alleged Crime

According to the Zirakpur police, the victim reported that he met the woman, who introduced herself as Simran from Patiala, after several days of chatting on WhatsApp. They arranged to meet on February 5, with the victim booking a room at the hotel around 5:30 PM. The evening proceeded normally until the victim fell asleep around 11:00 PM, only to wake up the next morning to find the woman gone and his valuables missing.

Upon checking his belongings, the victim discovered that an Apple iPhone, a Samsung Z Fold mobile phone, a gold chain, a bracelet, two rings, and approximately Rs 45,000 in cash had been stolen. He immediately alerted the authorities, who have since registered a case and launched an intensive search for the accused.

Police Investigation and Evidence

Inspector Satinder Singh, the Zirakpur Station House Officer (SHO), stated that police reviewed the hotel's CCTV footage, which captured the woman leaving the premises at around 2:20 AM, visibly carrying the victim's belongings. Further investigation revealed that the woman had provided a false identity; she was later identified as Usha, also known as Neetika, a resident of Panipat in Haryana.

The victim suspects he was drugged, leading to his deep sleep and inability to prevent the theft. Police have registered the case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are conducting raids to apprehend the accused. Additionally, hotel staff are being questioned to gather more insights into the incident.

Broader Implications and Safety Concerns

This incident underscores the growing concerns around safety in the digital dating landscape. As more people turn to apps to meet new people, such cases serve as a stark reminder to exercise caution. Authorities advise users to verify identities, meet in public places initially, and inform friends or family about their plans.

The Zirakpur police have urged the public to report any suspicious activities and are working diligently to ensure justice is served. The investigation continues as they piece together the events of that fateful night.
