Kanpur Sub-Inspector Suspended After Allegedly Throwing Wife from Roof in Domestic Violence Case
In a shocking incident of alleged domestic violence, Sub-Inspector Vivek Kumar, a resident of village Pachhiya in the Bisauli police station area of Badaun district, has been accused of brutally assaulting his wife, Sadhana Singh (45), and throwing her from the roof of their residence in Raiganj Society under City Kotwali on Thursday. The case has drawn serious attention from local authorities, leading to swift disciplinary action against the officer.
Wife Suffers Severe Injuries and Fractures in Alleged Attack
Sadhana Singh, who was admitted to Lohia Hospital following the incident, provided a harrowing account of the events. She accused her husband of locking her in a room, subjecting her to a violent beating, and then throwing her from the roof. On the day of the incident, she reiterated that he deliberately threw her from the roof, resulting in critical injuries.
Medical examinations at Lohia Hospital revealed the extent of her trauma, with X-rays showing fractures in her spine, leg, and waist bones. Due to the severity of these fractures, particularly in her spine and waist, she was referred for further treatment. Subsequently, her children took her to Bareilly for specialized medical care, highlighting the grave nature of her condition.
Police Take Swift Action After Complaints of Drunkenness and Harassment
The matter came to light when people informed CO City Aishwarya Upadhyay that Vivek Kumar was heavily drunk at the time of the incident. Taking the allegations of wife harassment seriously, SP Aarti Singh intervened promptly. Following an investigation into the complaints, the SP suspended Vivek Kumar from his duties.
The SP stated that sub-inspector Vivek was suspended, underscoring the department's commitment to addressing misconduct and ensuring accountability. This action reflects a growing emphasis on tackling domestic violence and police misconduct in the region.
