Coimbatore Police Crack Down on Burglary Ring, Arrest Two Suspects

In a significant breakthrough, Coimbatore police have arrested two individuals in connection with a series of house break-ins across the district. The arrests, made on Monday, led to the recovery of 40 sovereigns of gold jewellery, which has been linked to multiple burglary cases, marking a major success in the ongoing efforts to curb property crimes in the region.

Details of the Arrested Individuals

The arrested men have been identified as S Karthik, aged 34, and M Saravanan, aged 25, both hailing from Ramanathapuram district. Their apprehension came as a result of a meticulous investigation launched following a burglary complaint filed in July 2025.

Investigation Triggered by July 2025 Burglary

The case unfolded when Raghav Krishnan, 32, of Periyanaickenpalayam, reported a break-in at his residence. According to his complaint, he had secured his house on July 30 before leaving for a relative's home at PN Palayam in Coimbatore city. Upon his return on July 31, he discovered that the front door had been forcibly broken open. A thorough check revealed that several valuable items were missing, including:

  • A laptop
  • An Apple Watch
  • A projector
  • Various silver items

In response to this incident, a special police team was swiftly formed to investigate the matter and track down the perpetrators.

Recovery of Stolen Property and Further Revelations

Through diligent investigative work, the police team successfully traced and arrested Karthik and Saravanan. During the operation, they managed to recover the stolen property from the July burglary. However, the investigation did not stop there. Further probing uncovered that the duo was allegedly involved in several other burglary cases throughout Coimbatore district.

This led to the subsequent recovery of 40 sovereigns of gold jewellery, which police have connected to these additional house burglary cases. The recovery of such a substantial amount of gold highlights the scale of the criminal activities attributed to the arrested individuals.

Legal Proceedings and Custody

Following their arrest, both Karthik and Saravanan were produced before a judicial magistrate. The court has remanded them to judicial custody, where they will remain as the investigation continues to unfold further details and possibly link them to more crimes.

This case underscores the effectiveness of Coimbatore police in addressing property crimes and serves as a warning to potential offenders. The recovery of stolen goods, particularly the significant haul of gold jewellery, brings some relief to the victims and reinforces the importance of community vigilance and prompt reporting of such incidents.
