The acquisition is expected to bolster KPIT's capabilities in the rapidly evolving domain of software-defined vehicles (SDVs).
Strategic Move to Enhance Cybersecurity Portfolio
The acquisition of Cymotive aligns with KPIT's strategy to expand its footprint in cybersecurity solutions for connected and autonomous vehicles. Cymotive brings advanced expertise in securing vehicle electronic control units (ECUs), over-the-air (OTA) updates, and cloud-based services against cyber threats. This move will enable KPIT to offer end-to-end cybersecurity services to automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.

The total consideration for the acquisition is up to $120 million, which includes an upfront payment and performance-based earnouts. The deal is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, and is expected to close in the coming months. Regulations such as UN Regulation No. 155 require automakers to implement robust cybersecurity management systems.
