Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Commends Eagle's Landmark Anti-Narcotics Report for 2025

In a significant development in the state's ongoing battle against narcotics, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu unveiled the Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (Eagle) annual report for 2025 on Friday. The event, held in Visakhapatnam, marked a pivotal moment in Andhra Pradesh's structured and sustained efforts to combat drug-related activities.

High-Level Attendance and Strategic Recognition

The release ceremony was attended by senior police officials and key members of the Eagle team, including Ake Ravi Krishna, IGP of Eagle, and K Nagesh Babu, SP of Eagle. Chief Minister Naidu extended his congratulations to the Eagle team for their measurable achievements and the strategic transformation they have brought to the state's anti-narcotics framework.

He specifically praised the group's adoption of a strategic approach that has institutionalized a technology-enabled and intelligence-driven enforcement framework across Andhra Pradesh. This innovative methodology has been instrumental in enhancing the effectiveness of anti-drug operations.

Comprehensive Data-Driven Initiatives and National Recognition

Naidu lauded the preparation of a comprehensive, data-driven annual report that meticulously documents enforcement actions, prevention strategies, financial investigations, and rehabilitation initiatives. He observed that Andhra Pradesh has achieved a 360-degree perception change at the national level, emerging as a best-practice state in anti-narcotics enforcement. This alignment with Apex NCORD priorities underscores the state's commitment to a holistic and results-oriented approach.

The chief minister appreciated the enforcement group for its consistent, structured, and results-oriented methodology, which has yielded significant outcomes in the fight against narcotics.

Targeted Operations and Key Achievements in 2025

Focused Efforts in ASR District: The Eagle team concentrated its initiatives in the Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) district to eliminate ganja cultivation. Utilizing advanced technologies such as satellite and drone surveillance, combined with intelligence-based ground operations, the team successfully destroyed 31,185 ganja plants spread across 94.77 acres.

Statewide Enforcement Drive: A continuous statewide enforcement drive was implemented to eliminate drug-related violations within 100 yards of educational institutions, ensuring a safer environment for students.

Key Enforcement Outcomes for 2025:

  • 1,836 NDPS cases registered
  • 46,011 kg of ganja seized
  • 4,760 accused arrested
  • 770 vehicles seized
  • 96 preventive detentions under the PIT NDPS Act
  • Rs 9.11 crores in assets frozen or seized through financial investigation

These figures highlight the robust and impactful nature of Eagle's operations, demonstrating a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking and related activities in Andhra Pradesh.
